Project Challenges and Solutions
Large exterior colour change
The brief was to move the property from a brown finish to a deep black, creating a much sharper and more contemporary look. Because uPVC and composite surfaces need the correct preparation, each area was cleaned, keyed where required and masked carefully before coating.
Mixed materials
The project included uPVC windows and fascia details as well as a composite entrance. Kolorbond K2 was selected for its suitability on these surfaces, helping achieve strong adhesion, colour depth and long-term durability.
High apex access
One of the most demanding areas was the top apex, which reached roughly eight metres. The team planned access and safety measures around this height so the finish could be applied cleanly without compromising control.
Crisp finish requirements
A black coating highlights edges and overspray if preparation is rushed. Detailed masking around the windows, porch and entrance helped create clean lines and protect surrounding finishes.
Process
Work began with a thorough clean of all uPVC and composite surfaces. The team then masked the surrounding areas, protecting the home while leaving the frames, fascias and entrance components ready for spraying. Kolorbond K2 was applied in controlled passes to build an even jet-black finish across every feature.
The high apex was completed using the appropriate access equipment and careful spray technique. Once the coating had cured, masking was removed and the team reviewed the finish for consistency, edge quality and coverage.
Results
The property was given a strong contemporary appearance, with the black coating creating a high-contrast finish against the rest of the exterior. The application produced crisp edges, durable coverage and a factory-style look across the uPVC and composite elements, significantly improving kerb appeal.
